About Me
I am an experienced secondary English teacher and home educator. Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege to work with thousands of young people, helping them to develop essential English skills and, hopefully, a love of English language and literature. I have a lot of experience in helping students to achieve highly in examinations and I am really proud of my past students’ successes. Below are some examples of feedback from past students. I feel particularly proud when students comment on feeling safe in my classes; this is so important for both learning and personal development.
As a tutor, it is a pleasure to work more closely with my students and really personalise their learning to them as individuals. This is why I offer a twenty minute telephone consultation before tuition begins: so I can learn as much as possible about your young person and their needs.
As a home educator, I also understand that school isn’t the only way to learn and not all young people thrive in school. This is why I am now offering an IGCSE English language course for home educated children. Click here for more information. I also have plans to offer a HE GCSE English Literature course in the very near future! Watch this space!

“I first off would just like to say that I had planned to write an actual card to say thank you for all that you have done; however due to these unfortunate circumstances, that just hasn't been possible.
So instead I have decided to send you an email of my thanks. I first feel as though I should apologise for all the craziness we have caused you the last few years, yet also thank you for putting up with us. I also want to say thank you for tolerating all my crazy ideas and links that I get in the texts and developing on them. You are so sweet and kind and I always felt safe when in your lessons. I hope you realise just how great you have been.
So once again I would just like to say thank you for the last few years and for everything you have done.”

“I just wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for me these last two years. From the time you let us get away with doing a practice question in lesson just because it was a Friday and we were all tired to waking me up gently when I fell asleep during reading time in year ten even though I didn’t mean to! I’m so glad you still pushed us and made sure we did our best because you cared. I’m going to miss you challenging us to match the same audio level as a quiet library. Thank you for making English language an enjoyable lesson and something to look forward to even when we had three lessons of English on a week 1 Monday.”

“I wanted to email you to say thank you for teaching me so well this half term, even though it's been online. I've really enjoyed your lessons for the past 6 weeks, and I feel so much more confident now in answering questions and sharing my ideas with the class. So thank you so much Miss!”

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for everything you have done for us. You have taught me for both GCSE and A level and I feel so grateful to have had you as my teacher. Thank you for your endless support and encouragement (especially when we all feel like we 'failed') and we have had so many thought-provoking conversations. I will always have fond memories of our lessons together.
I hope to see you soon with the rest of the class, and yes, we should definitely get together for some 'tea' :)
Thank you once again for everything”
